The Bureau of Trade and Industry is one of the sectors in SNNPR. The Bureau was given its authority and responsibilities by the regional government as stated in proclamation 127/2002. The bureau is one of the key sectors in SNNPR State that plays a leading role regional and national economic advancement through implementation of Agriculture led industrial development policies and strategies
Vision of the sector:
By creating irreversible quality service provision system and promotion of industrial development in the economy realizing expansion of trade and industry, to see regional poverty reduced by half in 2015.
Mission of the sector:
Facilitating enterprise and entrepreneurship development, registration follow up and support on trade license offerings, road transport association, drivers and vehicle capacity building and inspection as a result of which they bring about significant change in the economy, capacitating implementation, making the public and business community use quality service through coordinated effort and playing pivotal role in regional development process.
Objective:
By expanding private investment and promoting industrial development, striving towards regional economic growth and livelihood improvement of the population.
Structural progress in Trade and Industry Bureau:
By Implementing BPR or Business Process Reengineering concept, the sector has been offering quality, customer-oriented, attainable, time and cost-effective services. To this end, the former bureaucratic and inefficient work systems are restructured and organized as work process. Consequently, it is possible for customers, stakeholders and the public at large to get dependable service. Ultimately, such change makes the sector to play its part on the regional economic development and change in the live of population.
