South Nations, Nationalities and Peoples
Regional State (SNNPRS) of Ethiopia
is such a wonderful part of the country
in having many Tourist attractions.

Out
of the total of 80 nations and nationalities
having their own language and culture
in the country, about 56 of them are
living in this region. In other words,
70% of Ethiopian's nations and nationalities
are residing in the South Nations

In
Ethiopia there are 11 National
parks.
Five of these National parks
are found
in the SNNPR.
These
are:
-
Omo National Park
- Mago
National Park
- Nech
Sar National Park
- Maze
National Park, &
- Chebera
Churchura National Park

There
are many kinds of animals in
Ethiopia (wild and non-wild)
of which about 43% are found
in SNNPR. Among these "
Swain's heartbeast " is
endemic . This endemic animal
is residing at "Nech Sar"
and " Maze" national
parks of the south region.
In addition it has been recorded
in different studies that SNNPR
is rich in its birds. More than
47% of the birds of the country
are found in this region. And
6 of them are endemic
There
are 8 places in Ethiopia recorded
by UNESCO as the best cultural
heritages of the world. These
places are historical and cultural
attractions that are wonderful
places to be visited. Two of
these 8 are located in SNNPR.
They are:
1 ." Tiya tikil Dingayoch" in
Gurage Zone and
2. "The Lower Omo Polio- Anthropological
site" In South Omo Zone, Konso
& Derashe special weredas.
And many more...

Six
Out of the 11 controlled
hunting areas in the country
are located at different
zones and special weredas
of SNNPR. To mention their
names: Murle,
Welshet, Sala, BOYO, Segen,
Sheko-Bench, and Mirab
Omo.
